On behalf of our client, a Global Packaging Solutions Company for the Cosmetics Industry, In Job New York is looking for a
PURCHASING / PROJECT COORDINATOR
Reporting to the Purchasing & Logistics Manager, the successful candidate based in Richmond Hills, QUEENS, will be responsible for coordinating purchasing projects related to the development of products and/or components within the line of packaging solutions and in providing support to the Sales team.
Main Responsibilities:
Serve as primary point of communication between NY purchasing/sales group and sourcing team in China
Distribute, receive and evaluate inquiry request forms from Sales representatives with all pertinent project details (ex: Item, Quantity, requested lead-time)
Review detail requirements of each inquiry with Purchasing Manager and/or Operations Manager to ensure that details are clearly understood and communicated.
Coordinate initial inquiry for new project/new product with participating partners
Follow up with International purchasing partners to ensure timely delivery – communicate with sales representatives in a timely manner throughout the process to ensure accurate information updates.
Coordinate the pre-production samples development and delivery of pre-production samples by following up with sales for the evaluation and approval of pre-production samples and maintaining library of pre-production samples coordinated with inquiry numbers for easy future reference
Coordinate with Purchasing Manager and appropriate freight forwarder shipping releases
Upon receipt of each shipment of custom designed products, compare samples from shipment to approved pre-production samples to ensure that products received are correct
Work closely with Quality Control so that samples of each item are provided to sales for their individual reference. Together with QC manager, ensure that samples of each newly approved development are maintained in a library for future reference
Collaborate with Corporate International to develop new tools/forms (ex: Inquiry Request Forms and Inquiry Spreadsheets) and manage and update inquiry spreadsheet to be used for daily / weekly follow up with purchasing partners as well as file of product specifications, decoration areas, miscellaneous artwork
Generate purchase orders for all purchases entered with China and, as needed, generate purchase orders with decoration vendors
Requirements:
Bachelors Degree, preferred
3-5 years experience in a similar position
Ability to work in a team environment with all levels of staff
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook); knowledge of Navision, a plus
Attention to detail and time management required
Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities in order to meet deadlines
